On the 5th of August I attended the Pride parade in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
I'm not gay, but I do support gay rights because I believe that everyone deserves the right to love whoever they want. I believe in freedom of love.

It was one of the most amazing days ever and I honestly wasn't expecting such a huge crowd to be there! It really warmed my heart to discover all the support for the LGBTQ+ community. It affected me because I find that I focus on the negative energy towards people who are LGBTQ+. I sit and get riled up over the horrible homophobic incidents that happen when I should really take a step back to realise that it's not all doom and gloom. In saying that I don't mean we should completely ignore the negativity. We should fight it at all costs but we can't let it overwhelm us. If we always focused on the horrific events that take place all over the world there would be little to no positivity left.

Attraction is not a choice. You're born with the feelings you're meant to feel and it's no mistake. No one should feel afraid or ashamed to admit their feelings just because they're different from what's considered the norm'. No one should feel afraid to walk down the street holding hands with the one they love.

The truth is love comes in many beautiful forms and it shouldn't cause conflict it should be embraced. It shouldn't be hidden it should be exposed to the world!
Because if Harry Potter taught me one thing. It's that no one should live in the closet...
